Overview

  • Recommended route: Kampala/Entebbe → Fort Portal → Kibale → Bigodi → Kampala/Entebbe

Highlights

  • Chimpanzee trekking — the main attraction; Kibale's Kanyanchu community has been monitored and habituated for decades, with UWA reporting very high sighting success.
  • 13 primate species — including red colobus, black-and-white colobus, L'Hoest's monkey and grey-cheeked mangabey.
  • Kibale rainforest — spectacular tropical forest and excellent nature photography.
  • Bird watching — particularly good around Kibale and Bigodi Wetland.
  • Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary — a community-run experience with forest/wetland walks, birds, monkeys and local culture.
